Bhubaneswar: NGO Bakul Foundation has created a set of books in Odia for children beginning their journey of learning in anganwadis and Class I in the state.
On Daan Utsav, the national festival of giving, the NGO urged people to gift children in slums and villages their first-ever book that can set them on a journey of joyful learning.
You can gift a child his/her first-ever book by contributing in multiples of Rs 70 (the cost of each book) at giving.bakul.org
According to Bakul Foundation, children who study in government schools have little exposure to pre-school learning before entering school. They go to anganwadis in slums and villages, where there are no books in Odia to introduce them to basic concepts.
