Cuttack: Mangalabag police here on Tuesday arrested two more persons – on-duty constable Mohammad Mousim and Narayan Nanda, a warder of Sambalpur jail – in connection with the escape of gangster Sheik Hyder from SCB Medical College and Hospital on April 10.
Mohammad Mousim was among the six cops suspended following the incident. Two days later, he had filed an FIR at the Mangalabag police station stating that Hyder’s family members were behind his sensational escape from the hospital.
He alleged that he lost consciousness after some family members, who were visiting the gangster at the hospital, flung certain poisonous substances at him.
Hyder, who was serving a life term at the Sambalpur Circle Jail in a murder case, was admitted to SCB for treatment on March 23. He was lodged at the Cabin no-5 of the surgery department of the hospital. However, he had escaped from hospital on April 10.
The gangster was nabbed from Telangana on April 15.
