Oncologist Dr Priya P Nayak Joins SUM Hospital

Bhubaneswar: Dr Priya P Nayak joined as Oncologist at Institute of Medical Science and SUM Hospital under SOA (Deemed to be university).

Dr Priya has an aim to create awareness on precaution to avoid breast cancer among women.

According to Dr Priya, women over 40 are more susceptible to breast cancer.

Irregular periods, pregnancy after 30, use of oral contraceptive pills, consumption of liquor and cigarettes may be risk factors of the disease, she said.

She also said that women should not feel shy and do self-breast examination, and clinical breast examination such as mammography in time. Women after 40 should undergo mammography once in a year, she recommended.

Identification of the disease in time and proper treatment is crucial, said Dr Priya.
