Bhubaneswar: Excise sleuths on Tuesday arrested a drug peddler from Khurda and seized brown sugar worth Rs 20 lakh from his possession.
“Our team carried out a raid on a tip-off and nabbed Somanath Bhujabal, who hails from Thengahata area under Khurda Town police limits. Besides, brown sugar weighing 175 gram, a Mauser, Rs 2.35 lakh in cash and two live bullets were recovered from him,” a senior official from the excise department said.
Interrogation revealed that he used to procure brown sugar from Jaleswar area in Balasore district, the official added.
Earlier on May 28, a drug peddler was arrested with 930 gram of brown sugar following a raid on a house at Arad Bazaar in Balasore district.
