According to police sources, the third year student of BSc (Nursing) at Hi-Tech Medical College attempted suicide by jumping off the third floor of the hostel building of the medical institution on Monday after Laxman, an employee of the college canteen, allegedly attempted to rape her.
She is undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital and is stated to be critical.
The family members of the victim had lodged a complaint at Mancheswar police station, alleging that she took such extreme step after being mentally harassed by the college authorities.
