Bhubaneswar: Police on Thursday arrested Amar Jena alias Bapi, a resident of
Manapur in Kendrapada district, on charges of attempting to rape a woman in the state capital the previous day.
The accused had allegedly tried to rape the woman during an interview scheduled by him inside a factory at Mancheswar here. She, however, managed to escape from his clutches and lodged a complaint with Mancheswar police.
According to the woman, also a native of Kendrapada, the accused had brought her to the city on the promise of providing her a job, said a senior police officer.
Based on the complaint, a police team raided Bapi’s residence at Manapur and nabbed him. He is being interrogated, the officer added.
