Bhadrak: One person died and 8 others sustained injuries as a four-wheeler ran over them in a medical campus in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Wednesday.
According to sources, the incident took place while people were standing in a queue to book ticket for consultation in front of outdoor counter at community health centre (CHC) at Agarpada in the district.
At the time, medicines and other things were being unloaded from a Bolero nearby. Suddenly, the vehicle, which had its ignition on, started running. Before the people standing in the line could disperse, it ran over several of them.
As a result, one person died on the spot and 8 others were injured. The Injured persons were admitted to district headquarters hospital at Bhadrak. The identity of the deceased has not been confirmed.
The deceased person was a relative of a patient, the sources said adding that the vehicle was engaged in the services of the CHC on contract basis.
On being informed, local police have rushed to the spot and started investigation. But how the vehicle ran into the people has not been confirmed.
