Puri: A person was injured after an explosion occurred inside a coach
of an army train at Puri railway station on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Binod Arya, was rushed to the district
headquarters hospital here.
Fortunately, the coach where the explosion occurred was empty.
“The incident took place when the train was stationed at platform no-2
of the station. The 5 kg-cooking gas cylinder which was being
transported in the coach exploded”, a railway official said, adding
that the station manager has launched an inquiry to ascertain the
exact cause behind the mishap.
The window panes of adjacent Puri-Tirupati Express were also badly
damaged in the blast.
