Koraput: One person was killed and three others were critically injured after the car carrying them dashed against a truck in Laxmipur area of Odisha’s Koraput district on Wednesday.
According to preliminary information, the mishap took place on National Highway No. 326 near Timjhola Chhak when four persons were proceeding from Bhubaneswar towards Nabarangpur early in the morning. They have been identified as Sibir Kumar Sahu, Bimal Chaudhury, Dinesh Mishra and Rahul Swain.
Following a head-on collision between the two vehicles, those travelling in the car sustained critical injuries. They were rescued by locals and taken to the community health centre (CHC) at Laxmipur. Later, they were shifted to SLN Medical College and Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
But Sibir succumbed during treatment in the hospital, while three others were still in critical condition, said sources.
The accident was reported to have taken place due to poor visibility caused by thick fog in the morning., The driver of the truck reportedly fled the scene after the accident.
