Sundargarh: One person was killed and three others were critically injured as a speeding truck ran over a Scorpio in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Sunday.
According to sources, the accident took place near Chandiposh police station on National Highway 143 in the district.
While the Scorpio driver died on the spot, three passengers going in the vehicle sustained critical injuries. After being rescued by locals, they were admitted in Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH).
Eyewitnesses said the accident was so severe that the Scorpio was completely damaged. Its driver, who died on the spot, was trapped inside the vehicle and could not be brought outside.
On being informed, Fire brigade team went to the spot and removed the crushed Scorpio from the road to resume normal traffic movement on the National Highway.
Meanwhile, Sundargarh police have sent the deceased’s body for postmortem and initiated a probe into the incident.
