Boudh: One passenger was killed and 30 were injured, five of them seriously, when a private bus overturned near Madinga Chhak on NH-57 in Odisha’s Boudh district late on Wednesday.
According to reports, a private bus (OD-20-C-9877) was on its way to Khariar Road in Nuapada district from Bhubneswar, carrying about 40 passengers when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned near Thidika Nullah under Puruna Katak police limits.
The incident took place at around 3 am, police said.
On being informed, the police, the fire brigade and 108 ambulance vans rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers from the bus. The injured were admitted to the district headquarters hospital and three among them shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla as their condition became critical.
Till reports last came in, barring two passengers, the remaining passengers had been discharged from the district headquarters hospital after preliminary treatment.
Meanwhile, police have sent the body of the deceased, identified as Sarada Prasanna Bal of Khariar Road area, for postmortem.
