Sambalpur/Bhadrak: One person died and 31 were injured in two separate bus accidents in the state late on Saturday.
A bus overturned on NH-55 at Nakshapalli in Sambalpur district killing one person. Thirty other passengers sustained grievous injuries.
The deceased was identified as the Pramod Baral, a resident of Nimapara in Puri district. Those injured were admitted to Sambalpur district headquarters hospital.
The bus was heading towards Bhubaneswar from Bargarh when the accident took place. Passengers claimed that the driver was over speeding.
In Bhadrak district, helper of a bus was seriously injured after the vehicle’s roof caught fire at Banta Square. The victim, who was sleeping inside the bus when the mishap occurred, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by some locals.
The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, police sources said.
