Deogarh/Cuttack: One person died and four other were injured in two different road accidents in Odisha’s Deogarh and Cuttack on Saturday.
Tension prevailed at Chhatabara in Deogarh after locals staged a road blockade following the death of a person in an accident.
The deceased has been identified as Sugriba Sahoo (53), a cart puller. He was a resident of Jamubania village. He died after being run over by a vehicle at Chhatabara.
Demanding compensation for the deceased’s kin, the irate locals blocked the road.
On being informed, police reached the spot and pacified the agitators.
Similarly, traffic on Cuttack-Paradip road was disrupted as locals staged a blockade after two persons died in a truck-bike collision near Siuli. The deceased have been identified as Narayan Khuntia and Prashant Swain.
In Cuttack, four persons sustained critical injuries when an ambulance in which they were travelling overturned at Naliamuhan near Salepur.
They were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
According to sources, the accident took place, when the ambulance was on its way from Bhitarkanika in Kendrapara district to Cuttack.
