Boudh: One person was killed and four others were seriously injured as a car collided with two bikes while overtaking another car in Odisha’s Boudh district on Friday.
According to sources, the accident took place near Raj Hotel at Khuntabandh under Boudh police station in the evening. The car that collided with the bikes was going from Baunsuni towards Boudh.
The car’s driver overtook another car in high speed on National Highway 57. At the same time, two persons riding a motorcycle and three others on another bike were coming from opposite direction. The car first collided with one bike and then the other.
On the impact of the collision, the pillion driver of the bike, identified as Mahendra Bhoi of Kumasinga village, died on the spot. The other person, identified as Pramod Parida of Charada village was critically injured. The locals rushed Pramod to the local hospital.
Similarly, the three persons going on the second bike were also injured in the collision. They are Narayan Meher, Bhajaman Meher and Muna Meher of Brahmachari village, the sources said. Bhajaman was shifted to VIMSAR at Burla as his condition deteriorated.
Following the accident, the driver of the car fled leaving behind the car on the road. On being informed, a team from Jahnap police outpost went to the spot and started investigation. They have seized the car and the two bikes.
