One Killed In Bridge Collapse In Odisha’s Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: A labourer was killed and six others were injured when a concrete slab of an under-construction bridge collapsed in the district on Sunday evening.

According to reports, while the workers were about to complete the day’s work on the Biju Setu near Talapadar in Umerkote area, a portion of the bridge collapsed with the labourers getting trapped under it.

The locals brought the labourers from under the debris of concrete and iron rods and rushed them to Umerkote Community Health Centre. While one of the workers died in the hospital, the condition of four others was stated to be critical.

The IIC of Umerkote police station Naresh Kumar Pradhan reached the spot to take stock of the situation. The identity of the deceased had not been confirmed.

The Rural Development department is executing the bridge construction work.
