Cuttack/Konark: A person was killed while two others suffered critical injuries in two separate incidents of wall collapse in Cuttack and Puri districts.
A man identified as Dinabandhu Maharana (52) died after a portion of his house at Suguniahuda village under Kishorenagar police limits in Cuttack district collapsed following incessant rain.
Maharana was sitting in the kitchen when the incident took place. He was rushed to Raghunathpur hospital by his family members and neighbours. However, the doctors declared him dead.
Similarly, a couple sustained critical injuries after the wall of their house at Talakata village under Gop police limits in Puri district collapsed late last night.
The mishap occurred at around 3 am when the victims Chaila Baral (75) and his wife Kanakalata Baral (70) were fast asleep.
Hearing noises, other members of the family reached the spot and took them to the district headquarters hospital.
