Two Killed, One Injured As Wedding Gift Explodes In Balangir

Balangir: Two persons were killed and an another sustained critical injuries in parcel bomb explosion at Patnagarh in Balangir district on Friday.

The incident took place when a newly married couple opened a packet which they received as gift during their marriage earlier on February 18.

The grandmother of the groom who sustained grievous injuries in the explosion succumbed to her injuries at Balangir hospital. The groom, Soumya Ranjan Sahoo had been shifted to Rourkela hospital but he also succumbed to the injuries. The bride, Reema Sahoo is undergoing treatment at Balangir hospital, police sources informed.

In a separate incident, the mutilated body of a youth was recovered from Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar.

The deceased has been identified as Dhaneswar Das.

Police have sent the body for post mortem and started investigation into the matter.
