Cuttack/Berhampur: A person was killed while 18 others injured in two
separate road accidents in Cuttack and Ganjam districts on Saturday.
In the first incident, a biker died after being hit by a truck at
Kurang Bazaar under Niali block in Cuttack district. Peeved over the
mishap, an angry mob staged a road blockade demanding adequate
compensation for the family of the deceased.
In Ganjam district, as many as 18 people were injured, six of them
critically, when the passenger bus which they were travelling in was
hit by a speeding truck on National Highway-16 at Chamakhandi area.
The injured persons were rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital
in Berhampur for treatment.
The local people of the area told police that the accident occurred
due to negligent driving by the truck driver.
