Bhubaneswar: After COVID-19 cases in the city rose to 16 on Sunday, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday declared Ward 64, covering revenue villages of Jadupur and Begunia, as ‘containment zone’.
According to the BMC notification, Pala Mandap Chhaka (Begunia) to Jadupur Village
Pani Tanki to Jadupur Village, Main Road Auto Stand to Jadupur Village and Ambedkar Sikshya Kendra to Jadupur Village have been sealed.
BMC commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said that no one will be allowed to enter or leave the area.
Inhabitants within the containment zone have been directed to strictly remain at home and all shopping establishment closed. “The supply of essentials and medical requirements will be ensured through various teams formed by CMC after the ongoing shutdown period,” he said.
All government and private institutions located within the boundary of the containment
zone have also been closed, he added.
Surya Nagar, Bomikhal and Surdarpada, which have reported COVID-19 cases, have earlier been declared as containment zones to identify the contacts and prevent possible community transmission of the infection.
