Bhubaneswar: A day after the arrest of sex racket kingpin Anjali and her husband Sk Ibrahim from Danagohiri in Pipili, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch apprehended one more member of the gang from Laxmi Sagar in Odisha capital on Wednesday.
STF sources said that the arrested member, Prashant Parida, was a close associate of Ibrahim, who used to bring Bangladeshi women to Odisha via Kolkata and engage them in the flesh trade.
On Tuesday, six Bangladeshi women were also rescued from a house in Old Town area of the city,
The STF personnel, during a raid on the house of the sex racket mastermind couple at Danagohiri, had seized several incriminating documents, including a diary containing the telephone number of several women, agents and other persons.
Preliminary investigation revealed that several agents were involved in the sex racket.
The STF officials said that Anjali was earlier working with another sex racket mastermind Sunil Meher. However, she left him and set up her own network with her husband Ibrahim.
The arrested couple will be brought on remand for further interrogation, they added.
Notably, the STF came to know about the running of the sex racket after a Bangladeshi woman lodged a rape complaint against a hotel manager at the Laxmi Sagar police station recently.
