One More Record Shattered; ‘Dhurandhar 2’ First Hindi Film To Cross Rs 1000 Crore In India

Mumbai: There’s no stopping ‘Dhurandhar 2’ in its march towards immortality.

Already the highest-grossing Hindi film in India, the Ranveer Singh-spearheaded spy thriller on Sunday became the first Bollywood movie to cross the Rs 1000-crore net mark domestically.

Having hit theatres on March 19, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ achieved the remarkable milestone on its 18th day.

At the time of reporting, the Aditya Dhar-directed film has earned Rs 1008 crore in India itself, as per Sacnilk.

The other films in the Rs-1000 crore club in India are from the south – ‘Pushpa 2’ and ‘Baahubali 2’.

Among other records ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has

already shattered are:

* Fastest Hindi film to cross Rs 500 crore, achieving the milestone in just six days

* First Indian film to cross Rs 850 crore and Rs 900 crore net in a single language

* Crossing Rs 1000 crore net across all versions, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ was the first from Bollywood and third in India to achieve this feat after ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ and ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’.

* ‘Dhurandhar 2’ surpassed Rs 1500 crore in worldwide gross collections to join the elite club of highest-grossing Indian films alongside ‘Dangal’, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ and ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’.

* The film became the highest-grossing Indian film in North America region, crossing the $25-million mark.

The film’s plot revolves around Ranveer’s character Hamza Ali Mazari emerging as the ‘King’ of Lyari and taking on Pakistani terrorists who were threatening India.

He is supported by Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, Danish Pandor and Manav Gohil in a stellar ensemble cast.
