One-Year-Old Among 23 New COVID Fatalities In Odisha; Five From Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: COVID-19 toll in Odisha mounted to 8,734 with 23 more deaths due to the deadly disease being confirmed by the Health Department on Sunday.

The state had reported 22 deaths the previous day.

Among the new fatalities is a 1-year-old male child from Koraput district. Khurda reported the highest of nine deaths (including five from Bhubaneswar), followed by Puri (3), two each in Nayagarh and Koraput and one each in Bhadrak, Bolangir, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Keonjhar districts.

The detail of the deceased:

1.A 88 years old male of Bhadrak district who was also suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

2.A 56 years old female of Bhubaneswar.

3.A 52 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Hemorrhagic Stroke.

4.A 68 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Decompensated Chronic Liver Disease.

5.A 70 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Pulmonary Edema with Acute Kidney Infection.

6.A 59 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension.

7.A 77 years old male of Balangir District who was also suffering from HIV Positiev, Chronic Kidney Disease.

8.A 43 years old female of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Adult acute myeloid leukaemia on Chemotherapy, Hyperleukocytosis with Leukostasis.

9.A 71 years old male of Jagatsinghpur district who was also suffering from Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, Acute Kidney Infection on Chronic Kidney Disease.

10.A 71 years old male of Kalahandi district who was also suffering from Old Cerebro Vascular Accident, Chronic Kidney Disease, Hypertension.

11.A 70 years old male of Kandhamal district who was also suffering from Hypertension, Seizure Disorder, Cerebro Vascular Accident, Parkinson’s.

12.A 51 years old male of Keonjhar district.

13.A 51 years old female of Khurda district who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Hypothyroidism.

14.A 45 years old male of Khurda district who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease.

15.A 68 years old male of Khurda district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension.

16.A 64 years old male of Khurda district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension.

17.A 1 years old male child of Koraput district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Acute Kidney Infection.

18.A 35 years old female of Koraput district.

19.A 44 years old male of Nayagarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension.

20.A 54 years old female of Nayagarh district who was also suffering from Coronary Artery Disease, Hypertension.

21.A 62 years old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

22.A 72 years old male of Puri district who was also suffering from old Fracture Neck Of Femur (Right), Parkinson’s Disease.

23.A 76 years old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

The third wave has so far claimed the lives of 14 children with a three-day-old being the youngest victim.

Notably, the state had reported 23 deaths, the highest reported during the third wave so far, on Friday. However, the details of the patients were not shared on the official handle of the department and this was also the case on Thursday when 18 casualties were reported. Odisha had seen 19 casualties on Wednesday and among them were three children aged 4, 14 and 15 years and  17 on Tuesday (February 1).

After reporting fatalities in single digits till Thursday (January 27) and none the following day, the state reported 10 deaths on January 28 and another 15 on January 29. The COVID tally was 19 on January 30 and 18 on January 31.

Odisha had reported a total of 147 COVID deaths in January.
