Baripada: Two persons were killed and another was grievously injured after an onion-laden truck plunged 100 feet into a gorge on NH-49 near Bangiriposhi in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj on Wednesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as truck driver Yunus and his friend Jawal. Helper of the truck Wasim, who jumped off the vehicle while it was falling, sustained critical injuries. They belong to Malkapur in Maharashtra.
According to sources, the accident took place when the driver lost control over the truck at Bangiriposhi Ghat while heading towards West Bengal from Nashik.
On being informed, the locals and fire personnel reached the spot and rescued all three persons. They were admitted to a hospital in Bangiriposhi, where doctor declared Yunus and Jawal as brought dead.
