Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack has arrested a youth for allegedly duping people in the name of eminent personalities including film actors.
According to police sources, the youth, identified as Bhisma Mohanta, used to open fake accounts in social media in the name of the well-known people. He was seeking monetary help from their fans and followers. After collecting the money, he was pocketing the entire amount without the knowledge of the persons concerned.
Bhisma had opened a social media account in the name of Ollywood actor Anubhav Mohanty and sought money from his fans and followers.
Following a complaint from Anubhav, the police started investigation and found the allegation true. Further probe revealed the use of other personalities from different fields by the accused.
The police kept a track of Bhisma through his mobile phone and social media and arrested him, the sources said.
