Bhubaneswar: Only 68 lakh people, which is 28 per cent of the eligible beneficiaries in Odisha, are fully vaccinated, Director of Family Welfare and nodal officer of Covid vaccination Dr Bijay Panigrahi informed on Friday.
“Despite being sent reminders on phone, people are not willing to take the second shot of COVID vaccine. List of those who have skipped the second dose will be published by respective district authorities,” he said.
According to the data available on CoWin, 2,68,26,920 doses have so far been administered in the state. Almost 2 crore (1,99,76,227) have been jabbed once while 68,50,693 have received both doses for protection against the virus.
Odisha had ramped up the immunisation process after the rise in the allocation of vaccines by the Centre. It had set a target to inoculate 3.5 lakh people a day from September 1 and cover all over 18 years of age with at least a single dose of COVID vaccine by the end of the year.
