Bhubaneswar: Only 30 of 512 MoUs signed by Odisha government with various industries in the last five years to pump in investment into the state have been taken up so far, Industries Minister Sampad Swain told the Assembly on Friday.
“Between 2020 and March 2024, Odisha signed 512 MoUs with a proposed investment of Rs 11,85,281.40 crore for several mega projects through the state-level single window clearance authority. Execution of these projects could have created 5,31,000 job opportunities,” he said while replying to a question from Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati about the progress of industries in the state.
The Minister, however, added that only 30 of these are either partially or fully executed. “Once fully operational, these will bring in an investment of Rs 19,528 crore and can generate 20,251 more jobs,” he added.
The Congress MLA, however, flayed Swain for furnishing incomplete information in the House. “My question was regarding MoUs signed by industries in the last 10 years. There is no information on the places and districts in the reply. You are keep us in dark,” he said.
