OPCC Chief Warns Community Transmission of COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik on Friday warned of the possibility of community transmission of COVID-19, if urgent measures are not taken by the state government.

In a letter to chief minister Naveen Patnaik, the Congress leader suggested to increase the testing to 25,000 samples per day apart from contact tracing. He also stressed on conducting 100 per cent testing wherever COVID-19 positive cases have been detected and making testes mandatory for the people being discharged from quarantine centres.

The OPCC chief said a house-to-house survey including commercial institutions with the help of health workers should be taken up to identify those with COVID-19 symptoms. He also requested to provide PPEs to all the frontline COVID warriors and keep adequate stock of medical equipment and life-saving drugs in COVID hospitals.
