Bhubaneswar: Observing the fourth anniversary of the BJP as ‘Betrayal Day’ (Biswasghat Diwas), members of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Saturday staged a dharna in front of Khurda Additional District Magistrate office.
As a part of the Congress’ nationwide campaign, hundreds of party activists raised anti-BJP slogans and accused the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre of betraying general public, including farmers, the youths and the poor, across the country.
OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik said, “The BJP Government has failed to fulfil the promises it had made to the people before assuming office. It has used public money to celebrate its anniversaries year after year, particularly by putting out advertisements. We condemn this anti-people act of the saffron party”.
Opposing the Prime Minister’s visit to the state, the Chhatra Congress activists also burnt a 25-feet high effigy of Ravana, with faces of Narendra Modi, in front of the Congress Bhavan here.
