Salepur: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik met the Salepur rape survivor at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and wished her a speedy recovery.
The OPCC chief also held discussion with the victim’s family members and the doctors treating her at the hospital.
Condemning the incident, Niranjan demanded stringent action against the accused.
On Saturday, a 16-member team of the BJP Mahila Morcha had also met the victim’s family members on Sunday and demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.
The prime accused identified as Md. Mustafa has already been arrested. A case under Sections 376, 307, I (M), POSCO Act has been registered against him.
The minor girl was raped and an attempt was made to kill at Jagannathpur under Salepur block in Cuttack district on Friday. The matter came to the light after she was rescued from the verandah of a school near her house.
The victim had gone to a shop near his house to buy chocolates when the incident had taken place.
