Gunupur: The Rayagada district administration on Thursday ordered immediate closure of the outpatient department (OPD) and the labour room of the sub-divisional hospital at Gunupur after a doctor and two staff nurses tested positive for COVID-19.
Briefing the media here, district collector Pramod Kumar Behera said the OPD will remain closed for three days till Saturday.
He said that instructions have been given to all primary and community health centres of Gunupur to refer the critical patients to the district headquarters hospital.
“The sub-divisional hospital has been completely sanitized and the three infected healthcare staffers have been sent to the COVID Hospital in Rayagada town. In the absence of the infected doctor, a female gynaecologist of the community health centre (CHC) in Jagannathpur has been sent to the sub-divisional hospital on deputation,” the collector added.
