New Delhi: Artificial intelligence company OpenAI has appointed Prabhjeet Singh as the Managing Director for its India operations, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion in one of its fastest-growing m
arkets. Singh will become OpenAI’s senior-most executive in India.
Before joining OpenAI, Singh served as President of Uber India and South Asia, where he spent more than a decade leading the ride-hailing company’s growth across the region. In his new role, he will oversee OpenAI’s consumer business, enterprise adoption, and strategic partnerships in India.
The appointment underscores OpenAI’s increasing focus on India, which the company has described as its second-largest market after the US. The AI firm has been expanding its presence in the country through partnerships, talent hiring, and investments aimed at accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence.
Singh’s appointment comes as OpenAI continues to strengthen its footprint in India amid rapidly growing demand for AI-powered tools from consumers, businesses, developers, and educational institutions.
