Bhubaneswar: Inspector General (IG) Harminder Pal on Thursday took charge as Odisha Frontier Commander of Border Security Force (BSF).
He replaced IG Ashwini Kumar Singh, who has been transferred to Siliguri in West Bengal.
After assuming office, the 1984-cadre BSF cadre officer said that anti-Maoist operations will be intensified in coming days. The focus will be given on facilitating developmental projects in the cut-off area, he added.
Over 10, 000 BSF personnel are deployed in Maoist-hit areas of Odishaly, mostly in Malkangiri and Koraput districts.
