Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday appointed IAS officer (retd) Manoj Kumar Mohanty as a member of Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).
The notification issued by the General Administration department said that Mohanty will have a term of six years from the date he joins office or until he attains the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier.
A 2012-batch IAS officer, he retired on June 31 while serving as Additional Secretary in the General Administration department. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had also publicly lauded Mohanty for his principled approach to administration and his respect for grassroots-level elected representatives during a meeting of Chief Development Officers (CDOs) and Block Development Officers (BDOs) held at Lok Seva Bhawan in May.
The commission is a six-member body including chairman. While retired IPS officer Arun Sarangi is the current chairman, the other members are Prof Mihir Prasad Mishra, Uday Narayan Das, Sarita Supakar and Shyama Bhakta Mishra.
Mishra, principal of SCS (Autonomous) College, Puri, and Das, director of census operations, were named as OPSC members in May this year.
