Orange Alert: Odisha To Experience Heavy Rain, Hail & Thunderstorm In Next 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain triggered by western disturbance is likely to lash Jajpur, Dhenkanal, and Cuttack in Odisha on Saturday.

Under its influence, thunderstorm with lightning, hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Keonjhar, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Puri districts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed while issuing orange warning for the same.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri andthunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha

Yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph has also been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri. The remaining parts of the state are also likely to experience thunderstorm with lightning.

The MeT office has also forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower many places in Odisha during the next 24 hours.

Yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph continues for Sunday and Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, Ganjam and Mayurbhanj are likely to be affected. Thunderstorm with lightning is also likely at one or two places in the remaining parts of the state. Light to moderate rain or thundershower can occur at many places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Boudh and at a few places in the interior districts during this period.

On Monday, thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore. The day may also see light to moderate rain or thundershower at a few places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and at one or two places in the rest of Odisha.

While there is no yellow warning for Tuesday, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely at two places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput. Dry weather is likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha, it added.
