Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange warning for four districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 6 pm on Thursday.
Moderate rain accompanied by thundershower with lightning and one or two intense spells of rain may occur in some parts of Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Puri and Ganjam districts in 3 hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The weather agency has also issued yellow warning of light rain/thundershower with lightning for Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Angul, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Ganjam, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Sambalpur till 5 pm.
Notably, the state is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rain till September 9 under the influence of a low-pressure area, which has formed over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts, and is expected to move slowly northwards during the next two day.
