Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued orange alert of thunderstorm and lightning (accompanied by hail) for nine districts of Odisha.
Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Koraput, Gajapati and Rayagada till 8.30 am on Saturday.
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are also likely to occur at one or two places in Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Angul, Boudh, Sundargarh, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur and Dhenkanal during this period.
The Met office has also forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower at a few places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jalpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpu r, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Nabarangpur and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
