Bhubaneswar: Odisha may continue to experience Kalbaisakhi, a pre-monsoon storm, as a cyclonic circulation persists over the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
The weather agency has issued an orange warning for Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Balasore.
According to the midday bulletin, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and hail along with gusty surface wind (50-60 kmph) may lash isolated places in these four districts till March 28 morning. Similar warning continues for Mayurbhanj district during the subsequent 24 hours.
The IMD has issued an advisory, warning of damage to plantation, horticulture and standing crops, besides unsecured structures and kutcha houses, due to strong winds. People have been advised to keep watch on weather, take shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas.
Squally weather with wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph may also prevail occasionally along & off North Odisha Coast on March 27. Fishermen have been advised aganst venturing into the sea as conditions are likely to be rough to very rough.
Yellow warning has also been issued for several districts of the state
till April 2.

Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) is expected to lash Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.

On Thursday, the first hailstorm of the year hit Bhubaneswar amid thunder, lightning, and heavy rain .The capital experienced intense rainfall along with frequent lightning, loud thunder, and strong gusty winds in the afternoon.
