Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for 3 districts of Odisha, including Cuttack city, till around 7 pm on Saturday.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty wind speed reaching 40- 50 kmph and light to moderate rain are likely in some parts of Cuttack, Khurda and Jagatsinghpur districts in 3 hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The IMD had earlier issued orange alert for thunderstorm/lightning with gusty wind speed reaching 50- 60 kmph and light to moderate rain at some parts in Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Gajapati and Ganjam districts till 6.30 pm.
Notably, there is a forecast for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface windspeed reaching 40-50 kmph for some places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Khurda till 8.30 am on Sunday.

Thunderstorm with lightning may also occur at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Angul, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri districts during this period while a few places in North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and at one or two places in rest of the state are likely to experience light to moderate rain, according to the midday bulletin.
