Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for several places in Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, till 7.25 pm on Saturday.
According to the weather agency, moderate rain/thundershower with lightning and one or two spells of intense rain may occur at some places in Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Mayurbhanj in three hours.
It has warned of waterlogging in low-lying areas, occasional poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban areas.
Yellow warning of light to moderate rain with lightning has been issued for some parts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh and Puri districts. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Notably, the IMD in its midday bulletin had issued no heavy rain warning for the day. It had forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower at many places in North Odisha and at a few places in South Odisha till 8.30 am on September 17 and sounded yellow warning of heavy rain from September 18.
