Puri: In order to promote Jagannath culture, an organisation has come up with a packet containing the items related to the deities of Jagannath temple and pilgrim town of Puri in Odisha.
Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Sachi Nandan Das, convenor of Shrikshetra Mahatwa and Jaga Bheti, said they came up with the idea for the convenience of the devotees coming to have darshan in the temple.
“The devotees, particularly from outside the state, were finding it difficult to get different things used for offering puja to Lord Jagannath. We have put all necessary materials in one package for their convenience,” he said.
The package includes a picture of Lord Jagannath, a conch shell, sea shells, wicks for lamps, tilak and holy sand from the pilgrim town. The cost of each packet has been fixed at Rs 100.
The organisation has tied up with 200 shops to sell the packets. Besides, members of 100 women organisations will be engaged to sell those at bus stand, railway station, Bada Danda (Grand Road) and sea beach.
The organisation will sell the package as part of “Vocal for Local” slogan of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Das said.
