Berhampur: Following the issue of marriage function at a hotel in Gopalpur, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amrit Kulange has announced that in such cases, the organiser would be held responsible.
The collector said if anybody attends a social, cultural or political gathering and gets contaminated with coronavirus, the organiser of the event would be accountable.
In such cases, the entire expenses from swab test to the treatment of the affected persons would be collected from the organiser. The organiser would also be held responsible in case of the death of the patient, Kulange said.
It may be noted that the district administration had sealed the MAYFAIR Palm Beach Resort Gopalpur on Sea for seven days after video of a wedding held on its premises by flouting COVID-19 guidelines went viral on Saturday.
Later, chairman and managing director of MAYFAIR hotels and resorts Dilip Ray had apologised for the incident and termed it as unfortunate.
