Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Saturday directed the police to conduct a probe and ascertain the reason behind complaints filed against actress Varsha Priyadarshini at several police stations in Bhubaneswar.
The HC asked the city DCP to take action against people found filing false complaints against the actor accusing her of making casteist remarks.
Justice Sanjiv Kumar Panigrahi directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar to conduct an investigation in this regard and ascertain the source and origin of such complaints.
The court’s ruling came after the public prosecutor informed that the complaint filed against Varsha, estranged wife of actor-turned politician and Kendrapada MP Anubhav Mohanty, at Chandrasekharpur Police Station in Bhubaneswar is baseless and fake.
The court was also informed that the woman who had filed compliant against Varsha at Chandrasekharpur Police Station is no more interested to drag the case and the complainant has submitted a document in this regard.
The Bhubaneswar DCP has been asked to ascertain the authenticity of a similar case filed against the actress at Sahid Nagar Police Station. The DCP has also been asked to ascertain motive behind filing such complaints.
The next hearing of the case is scheduled for January 31.
