Cuttack: Orissa High Court has directed the Commissionerate Police to take action on a complaint filed against state’s ace sprinter Dutee Chand.
The court issued the order after hearing a petition filed by a web news portal alleging that the athlete had made offensive comments on the portal. The portal also stated that it had filed a complaint in this regard at Laxmisagar police station.
As the complaint did not lead to any action by police, the portal filed a grievance petition with Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar. But no police action has been initiated on the matter so far, it stated in the petition and appealed to the court to intervene in the matter.
After hearing the petition, the court directed DCP, Bhubaneswar to take action on the complaint filed against Dutee.
According to reports, the reporters of the news portal had visited Dutee’s house and recorded the comments of her parents on the athlete. Later, Dutee complained on social media that the portal tried to extract money from her for not releasing the recording of her parents’ comments.
