Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday rejected a petition by Ollywood actress Varsha Priyadarshini seeking intervention to stop her estranged husband Anubhav Mohanty from posting adverse remarks about her on social media.
Varsha had filed the petition in the HC for stopping alleged ‘fake and hate’ campaigns against her on social media. She alleged that while matter relating to her marital discord with Anubhav is sub-judice in a family court in Cuttack, videos being shared by the actor-turned-politician on social media are defamatory.
Varsha had also urged the court to expunge the previous posts from various social media platforms saying these are maligning her image.
After hearing, the bench of Justice K R Mohapatra had reserved the verdict on January 6. The court on Wednesday dismissed Varsha’s plea.
The Court had earlier restrained both Anubhav and Varsha from posting anything on social media against each other. However, in its final hearing on the matter, High Court rejected Varsha’s petition and declined to interfere.
It may be noted that Varsha had also filed complaints at Purighat police station and Cyber police station in Cuttack alleging that Anubhav was trying to tarnish her image by posting various videos on social media.
