Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court dismissed Kendrapada MP Anubhav Mohanty’s plea for expeditions hearing and fixing a date for the final hearing of his divorce petition after the Family Court here began hearing in the case on Thursday.
Anubhav had earlier accused his estranged wife Varsha Priyadarshini of prolonging the case by remaining absent from the counselling sessions. The MP said that the mediation, which has been going on for almost six months, should be stopped as it has not been fruitful. He then moved the HC seeking an early hearing in the case.
The Family Court has reportedly also accepted Anubhav’s contention on the mediation session.
Anubhav had filed the divorce petition at Patiala House Court on July 6, 2020.
On March 25, the Supreme Court, hearing a petition filed by Varsha, transferred the petition for dissolution of their marriage, solemnized on February 8, 2014, from Delhi to Cuttack
