Cuttack: Nearly two months after being arrested following a scuffle with police, 22 BJP Yuva Morcha activists were granted bail by the Orissa High Court on Thursday.
The 22 saffron activists, including Odisha BJP Yuva Morcha president Irasish Acharya, have been in jail since their arrest in Bhubaneswar on February 28 this year during a protest against deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Sources said the High Court granted bail to all the 22 members of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) including Irashish Acharya.
It may be noted here that the BJYM activists were allegedly involved in a scuffle with police personnel while they were marching towards the state Assembly on February 28 over alleged deteriorating law and order situation, including the murder of Minister Naba Kishore Das.
Following the face-off, 22 BJYM activists were arrested and sent to the jail.
Though the BJP has lodged a complaint at a Bhubaneswar police station on the same night, the police were yet to register a case in this regard.
