Orissa HC Orders Admission Of Student Unable To Pay Hiked School Fee

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday directed a private school in Rourkela to allow a student, who was issued TC, to continue his education.

As per the case, while the student was studying in the private school in Sector-22 of the city, the school authorities increased the fees. The guardians of the students objected to it on the ground that as per present norms, the school cannot raise the tuition fee more than 8 per cent.

Later, the student’s guardian paid the tuition fees as per the norms and the application for admission. Instead of making the admission, the school authorities issued the transfer certificate (TC) to the student.

The guardian filed a petition in the High Court seeking justice. After hearing the petition, Justice Biswanath Rath ordered the school to admit the student as per the norms. The court has directed Sundargarh district education officials and collector to ensure that its order is abided.
