Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday directed Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and other agencies to complete all road repair works and related projects in the millennium city by October 27.
The HC, which had asked the senior officials of the civic body and other departments to appear before the court, set the deadline for completion of construction and repair works during hearing.
Senior officials of various departments personally deposed before the Court during the hearing and presented their stand on the matter. The officials of CMC, PwD, R& B Division, Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) deposed before the court.
The work for the ongoing box drain project will be completed by March, 2024, according to amicus curiae. The next hearing of the case will be held on November 2, 2023.
The HC had earlier pulled up several agencies including CMC, Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO), and GAIL for the pathetic condition of roads in the city.
While hearing the petition, a bench comprising acting Chief Justice B R Sarangi and Justice M S Raman had said the authorities concerned should take concrete steps to expedite the works instead of fixing the timeline for completion of the projects at their sweet-will.
