Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Monday postponed the hearing on fee waiver by private schools to September 25.
The court put off the hearing due to the non-submission of a report by the mediation committee. This was because the person scheduled to submit the report had tested positive for COVID-19.
On September 1, the HC had asked the Odisha government to amicably resolve the issue relating to the hike in private school fees.
While hearing a PIL filed by Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangh, the court had asked the Principal Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department to convene a joint meeting of parents, teachers and representatives of private schools in this connection and apprise the court of its outcome.
The Mahasangh had moved the HC against the decision of private schools to hike fees amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
