Cuttack: Amid the ongoing ED probe into the money laundering angle in Archana Nag’s honeytrap case, the Orissa High Court on Friday directed the Commissionerate Police to submit the case diary.
This followed a plea by Archana, seeking bail in the case filed against her by filmmaker Akshay Parija at the Nayapalli police station. Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court-3 in Bhubaneswar had earlier denied her bail in the case.
Notably, Archana was arrested on October 6 on the basis of a complaint lodged by her former associate Shardhanjali Behere at Khandagiri police station. Parija had also filed a complaint at Nayapalli police station, alleging that Archana and Shardhanjali were demanding Rs 3 crore by blackmailing him with objectionable pictures and videos.
In December last year, the Commissionerate Police filed a chargesheet before the JMFC Court-3 in Bhubaneswar in the case registered at the Nayapalli police station. The 501-page chargesheet was submitted against Archana under Sections 384, 385, 388, 389, 500, 506 and 120-B of the IPC and Sections 66E, 67 and 67A of the I-T Act. The Commissionerate Police will submit a supplementary chargesheet against the blackmailer once the probe is completed, sources said.
Archana is accused of allegedly amassing wealth by blackmailing prominent people in Odisha using sexually explicit videos.
